June 25, (THEWILL) – People of Umuohiadagu Umualum Nekede Community, in the Owerri West LGA, staged a solidarity march for the administration of Sen. Hope Uzodimma, saying it is behind the government.

The people barricaded the Government House entrance displaying placards with various inscriptions: “We support this project”, “God Bless the Governor”, “We are not in opposition with the government”, “Onwa, Go ahead, the People of Nekede are in full support of the project”.

Speaking during the solidarity march on Thursday, Mr Ben Maduagwu, said they came for a solidarity visit to the governor, to inform him that they were bonafide members of the community, warning the Government never to deal with any group.

“We are the real people of the Umuohiadagu community and we are here to counter whatsoever any group has done to claim they are part of our community.”

Also speaking, Elder Charles Iwuchukwu and Onyinyechi Ugwuegbulam, stated that the said lands belonged to them, which they had given to the government.

Addressing the group, the Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House, Barr Emeka Agbor, thanked them for coming and, therefore, commended them for supporting the present administration of Governor Hope Uzodimma.

“On behalf of the shared prosperity government of Senator Uzodimma, I want to let you know that the Governor is happy that the people of the community are here and are ever ready to support him.”

Meanwhile, a group had earlier protested that their lands were forcefully snatched away from them by the government.

They alleged that Nze Ozichukwu Chukwu and others were involved in the grabbing and that they had not been compensated.
