December 24, (THEWILL) – The Senator representing Plateau South in the National Assembly, Senator Nora Ladi daduut, has urged her constituents as well as other well meaning Nigerians to be of good conduct and always be ‘peacemakers’.
Senator Daduut who was reacting to the recent terrorist act in which bandits massacred innocent people in a market in Piyen in Wase local government area of Plateau south, condemned the act and described it as “unfortunate and regrettable”, and blamed it on some misguided elements who choose to disrupt peace in the society.
As a representative of the people, the Senator said she is aware of the recent alarm raised by a royal father to the effect that bandits have taken over a large part of Plateau South, saying the Senate will continue to address the challenges of insecurity as a threat to national development, and take the necessary steps that will facilitate the efforts of state security.
Senator Daduut, who marked one year in office as Senator of the Federal Republic this December, having won a by-election to replace Senator Ignatius Longjan who died earlier in January 2020, said she spent her first year in the Red Chamber to focus on the four priority areas of her campaign, namely, education, women and youth empowerment, agriculture, and human capital development/employment.
Reviewing her tenure thus far, Senator Daduut said , “we have made some reasonable impact on the lives of our constituents.” With several programmes and projects including direct interventions like the survival fund, she said she has been able to empower, train and facilitate more than two thousand (2000) of her constituents in different schemes such as rice and livestock farming, and carried out projects such as installation of solar-based street lights.
