November 21, (THEWILL) – The Lagos State Police Command says it is yet to receive the autopsy report of late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, two months after his body was exhumed for autopsy to uncover the singer’s cause of death.
Mohbad’s passing on September 12 ignited controversies in Nigeria and beyond, prompting the police to establish an investigative team to unravel the circumstances surrounding the singer’s demise.
In September, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, tweeted that the autopsy had been concluded, and they were now awaiting results.
In October, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, identified prime suspects connected to the singer’s death. He revealed that on September 12, 2023, Mohbad vomited and developed goosebumps after being injected three times by nurse Feyisayo Ogedemgbe.
Following the identification of the suspects, legal action ensued, and some of them were subsequently charged in court.
On November 17, the State Police Command released singer Azeez Fashola, widely known as Naira Marley, and Balogun Samson, known as Sam Larry, following the fulfilment of their bail conditions. The duo had been arrested in connection to the investigation into Mohbad’s death, triggered by online videos showing assault against the late singer.
“The autopsy report has not been given to us. Some people have been carrying rumours that it’s ready. It’s one thing for it to be ready, it’s another thing for it to be given to us officially – that we would receive and sign a copy that we have received it. So, we don’t work with rumours, we work with facts,” Hundeyin said.
Hundeyin further said only the singer’s family lawyer could write to the pathologists to release the autopsy result or it would be independently given to the police when it is ready.
