February 15, (THEWILL) – Over 40 Nigerians will take part in the first-ever Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF) Level 1 Medical and World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Training Course in Abuja.
The three-day event will be held at the Media Centre of the Moshood Abiola Stadium, in Abuja, from February 15 to February 18. The NRFF, in collaboration with its partners, especially the Sports and Youth Development Academy (SYDA), aims to create a drug-free rugby environment in Nigeria.
Femi Ayorinde, a WADA-accredited educator, will educate participants on day one, while Dr. Rotimi Akinola, another WADA-accredited educator, will train registered Nigerians on days two and three. The course will bring together 44 participants from all six geopolitical zones across the country.
The President of the NRFF, Dr. Ademola Are, emphasised the importance of the training, saying that it is crucial for players and coaches to be well informed to avoid falling foul of the law. The participants will be certified after the course and will be knowledgeable about the laws that guide anti-doping, what drugs and foods players should avoid, and what they are allowed to ingest.
The event will also be graced by the Minister of Sports, Sunday Dare and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Ismaila Abubakar.
