May 15, (THEWILL) – Juventus lifted their 15th Coppa Italia by edging out Atalanta in a tense final at the Stadio Olimpico. A hard-fought 1-0 victory was achieved for the Bianconeri, courtesy of Dusan Vlahovic’s early strike, as they held firm against a spirited Atalanta side.

The Serbian striker netted the all-important goal after just four minutes, latching onto Andrea Cambiaso’s perfectly weighted pass before slotting past Marco Carnesecchi. Despite Atalanta’s best efforts, including chances for Mario Pasalic and Ademola Lookman, Juve’s defence remained resolute.

Tempers flared midway through the second half when Berat Djimsiti played on as Samuel Iling Junior lay prone, leading to protests from the Juventus players. Vlahovic thought he had doubled the lead only for his header to be ruled out.

Both sides struck the woodwork late on through Lookman and Fabio Miretti, but Juventus held their narrow advantage to claim their first trophy since defeating Atalanta in the 2021 Coppa Italia final. For La Dea, attention now turns to the UEFA Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen.

With 15 Coppa Italia triumphs, no club has won Italy’s premier cup competition on more occasions than the Old Lady of Italian football.
