October 24 (THEWILL) – Real Madrid maintained their perfect start in the Champions League group stage by securing a 2-1 away victory against Braga on Tuesday night.
The first half saw end-to-end action, with Rodrygo giving Madrid the lead against the run of play after tapping in Vinicius Junior’s cross. Jude Bellingham then doubled their advantage in the second half, slotting home calmly from the edge of the box.
Braga pulled one back almost immediately through Alvaro Djalo, who fired home from close range via a Simon Banza assist However, Madrid held on to claim an important three points, giving them a strong position in the group with their perfect score.
It was a game of fine margins, with Braga missing some good chances to equalise through Ricardo Horta late on. Madrid also had a Vinicius goal disallowed for offside as they frequently looked to hit balls over the top.
Ultimately, Madrid’s quality shone through to maintain their 100% start and take a big step towards the knockout stages. Yet, Braga provided stern opposition and could hold their heads high after a brave performance. They sit third after Napoli in second place.
