U-23 Team Intensify Training For Cup Of Nations Tie Against Tanzania

October 15, (THEWILL) – In anticipation of the 2023 Africa Under-23 Cup of Nations qualifying match against Tanzania, Nigeria’s U-23 team, the Olympic Eagles, stepped up their preparation on Friday.

The Olympic Eagles, who won gold at the 1996 Men’s Olympic Football Tournament in Atlanta, the United States, silver in China twelve years later, and bronze in Brazil six years ago, are currently training in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.

The team engaged in rigorous tactical training on Friday, while being closely observed by the technical staff, which included Kennedy Boboye, Abubakar Bala, and goalkeeper’s trainer Suleiman Shuaibu. The technical staff was led by Coach Salisu Yusuf.

At the Lekan Salami Stadium in Adamasingba, where they will host the second leg of their match against the East Africans on Saturday, October 29, the team has been practising twice daily.

They will compete in the first leg, which will take place over the weekend of October 21–23. To that end, they are scheduled to leave Nigeria on Wednesday, October 19, for Dar es Salaam.
