April 14, (THEWILL)- The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), Sector 3, Monguno, Nigeria has reported a continued trend of Boko Haram fighters laying down their arms, with two more fighters surrendering on Saturday.
In a statement issued on Sunday, by its Chief of Military Public Information, Lt. Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, the MNJTF said it is committed to restoring peace and facilitating the return of normalcy to the affected region.
The latest fighters, identified as Ahmed Isiaka and Adam Muhammed, aged 18 and 17 respectively, hail from Kolloram, Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.
They relinquished various items, including 250 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 50 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, and a 9mm PARA round, among other personal belongings.
This underscores the effectiveness of the diverse non-kinetic measures the MNJTF has implemented to promote safety and security in the Lake Chad basin region impacted by Boko Haram and other terrorist activities.
