Tuchel Acknowledges Mane’s Underwhelming Season At Bayern

July 16, (THEWILL) – Sadio Mane’s time at Bayern Munich has not lived up to expectations, according to coach, Thomas Tuchel.

In an interview with Sport1, Tuchel was candid about his position on the player: “He fell short of expectations… The player knows that too, he knows my opinion and the opinion of the club.” Tuchel further acknowledged the challenges Mane faced: “The competitive situation is extremely high, the starting position is not easy for him.”

The coach’s remarks shed light on Mane’s struggles to secure a regular position and replicate his previous form. It is clear that the player’s performance did not meet expectations. With just 18 starts in the Bundesliga and a modest return of seven goals, Mane’s struggles were evident. His disappointing campaign prompted Bayern to actively seek a new club for the Senegalese forward.

While the Saudi Pro League has been considered as a potential option, Mane previously expressed disinterest in moving to Saudi Arabia. His future remains uncertain as Bayern continues to explore options for his departure. Amid these uncertainties surrounding Mane’s future at Bayern Munich, there are potential suitors showing interest and his disinterest in Saudi Arabia, Al-Ettifaq has set their sights on the 31-year-old.

This news follows the recent appointment of Steven Gerrard as manager at Al-Ettifaq. The club is applying Gerrard’s connections with Anfield to target other former Liverpool players, including Jordan Henderson and Philippe Coutinho. However, Mane’s interest in moving to Saudi Arabia remains in doubt. As of June, he showed no willingness to engage in talks regarding a potential move. Perhaps, Tuchel’s comments may nudge him away from Bayern.
