Trossard Strikes Late As Arsenal Salvage Draw At Chelsea

October 21, (THEWILL) – Arsenal preserved their unbeaten start to the English Premier League season after salvaging a late 2-2 draw away at Chelsea on Saturday.

The Blues looked to be cruising towards victory with a two-goal lead until the final quarter of the match, but defensive lapses allowed the Gunners a way back into the contest that finished all square at Stamford Bridge.

Mikel Arteta’s side struggled for large periods in this London Derby and surrendered the midfield battle to their hosts but the Gunners demonstrated resilience to fight back and claim a point before the final whistle.

Chelsea made a fast start and were awarded a penalty after William Saliba handled in the box. Cole Palmer stepped up to convert and give the hosts an early lead. The Blues doubled their advantage shortly after half-time when Mykhailo Mudryk’s deep cross deceived Arsenal keeper David Raya.

However, the Gunners pulled one back when Declan Rice pounced on a defensive mistake to slot home. Substitute Leandro Trossard then levelled things up late on by converting Bukayo Saka’s pinpoint cross. Neither side could find a winner in the closing stages as the London encounter finished 2-2.
