Troops Kill Three Boko Haram Insurgents, Rescue Five-Year-Old Boy

SAN FRANCISCO, October 13, (THEWILL) – A five-year-old boy has been rescued from Boko Haram insurgents by troops of the Nigerian Army, Operation Lafiya Dole, during a gun battle in Bama, Borno State.

It was gathered that the insurgents hid in enclaves located in Abaram, Churuchuru and Aulajiri villages in the Bama Local Government Area, which the troops attempted to clear as part of the ongoing Operation Deep Punch 2.

According to The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig Gen. Sani Usman, three of the terrorists were shot dead while the battle lasted during which the troops, who were from the 202 Battalion, 21 Brigade, pulled the boy from the insurgents’ grip.

“The terrorists withdrew in disarray on sighting the troops in Bama as the soldiers overpowered them with a heavy fire. Troops neutralised three of the terrorists, rescued a child,” he said.

The rescued boy is said to be with troops as efforts were on to locate his parents and reunite him with them.

Also, troops of 151 Battalion, 21 Brigade, reportedly encountered some Boko Haram terrorists while on patrol along the Bama- Bocobs Road. The troops were said to have engaged the terrorists in a fire fight and killed an undisclosed number.
