September 15, (THEWILL) – Ahead of the judgement of the Kano State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal,the people and Government of Kano State have once again offered special prayers for the victory of Governor Abba Yusuf at the Tribunal.
The groups had in August conducted similar supplications during which they prayed to God ” not to allow anybody to seize our mandate.”
The people who included officials of the State Government and party faithful, conducted the prayers on Thursday at Katsina road, Gwarzo road,Madobi Road/Sharada , Zaria road ,Maiduguri road and Hadejia road in the state capital.
The opposition APC had filed a case at the Tribunal challenging the victory of the NNPP candidate, Abba Kabir Yusuf as Governor of the State.
As the Tribunal is getting set to deliver its Judgement, NNPP supporters and officials of the state government are getting apprehensive about the outcome of the case,hence,the conduct of the special prayers.
Leading a two raka’at prayer session at Hadeja Road, a Chieftain of NNPP in Minjibir Local Government Area ,Alhaji Abdullahi Yakubu, appealed to the residents to continue to pray to God “to safeguard our hard-earned mandate and secure the good people of Kano State.”
Yakubu said that the people of Kano State are peace-loving, hence the need for collective political efforts in seeking divine intervention against “desperate politicians who want to steal our mandate through the back door.”
At Zaria road ,Malam Musa Abdullahi,who led the prayers said that seeking divine intervention was necessary “because of the desperate moves by the opposition party to come back to power through the back door.”
“We are progressive and law abiding politicians, hence the need to take our matter to God through prayers.”
On her part,the State Chairperson of the NNPP Women Groups, Hajia Zuwaira, Abubakar, said that they were praying against some desperate politicians whom she said, were hellbent on removing Abba Kabir Yusuf as Governor of Kano State.
“We are aware that some people who don’t believe in losing elections are moving to snatch the hard-earned victory of the NNPP government in Kano State and so, we are asking Allah to take care of those behind such moves,”Zuwaira said.
At Sharada road, Alhaji Ishaku Abubakar who led the prayer session, said seeking God’s intervention was the only solution to the situation.
“We have prayed and taken our matter to Almighty God to protect our mandate which we fought for in the last eight years,” Abubakar added.
