Tottenham Come From Behind To Claim Vital Win Over Crystal Palace

March 02, (THEWILL) – Tottenham Hotspur showed great fortitude to overturn a one goal deficit and claim a crucial 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace at home on Saturday. After a goalless first half, the Eagles took a surprise lead through a brilliant free kick from Eberechi Eze.

However, inspired substitutes from hosts’ manager Antonio Conte turned the game on its head, with Timo Werner and Cristian Romero scoring in quick succession. Son Heung-Min added a late third to wrap up an important three points that lifts Spurs to within two points of UEFA Champions League places.

Despite bossing the early proceedings, Tottenham failed to capitalise on their promising start. Timo Werner was denied by an excellent stop from Palace keeper Sam Johnstone. The away side posed an occasional threat on the counter attack, but the teams went in level at the interval.

Shortly after the break, Eze produced a touch of individual brilliance to put Palace ahead. After winning a free kick on the edge of the box, the midfielder curled an unstoppable effort beyond Guglielmo Vicario to notch his 6th league goal of the campaign.

Desperate for a response, Spurs manager Antonio Conte turned to his bench, bringing on Brennan Johnson. Although the Welshman initially missed a glaring opportunity, he made amends by teeing up Werner to guide home an equaliser with 13 minutes remaining. Just three minutes later, Cristian Romero powerfully headed home to complete the turnaround.

As the game entered its final stages, Son Heung-Min slotted calmly past Johnstone to make it 3-1 and secure a vital three points. The win lifts Tottenham to within three points of the top four, while Palace are 14th in the table.
