July 11, (THEWILL) – President Bola Tinubu has written to the Nigerian Senate requesting the confirmation of the newly appointed Service Chiefs.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio read the letter at plenary on Tuesday.

The President’s request comes three weeks after he appointed the new Service Chiefs on June 19, 2023.

The Service Chiefs waiting for approval from the legislative arm are Nuhu Ribadu, as the new National Security Adviser (NSA); Maj. Gen. C.G Musa as the Chief of Defence Staff; Maj. Gen T. A Lagbaja as the Chief of Army Staff; Rear Admiral E. A Ogalla as the Chief of Naval Staff; AVM H.B Abubakar as the Chief of Air Staff; and Maj. Gen. Tinubu also appointed IGP Kayode Egbetokun as the Acting Inspector-General of Police and Adeniyi Adewale as the Acting Comptroller General of Customs.

Akpabio said since the relevant Standing Committees of the Senate are not in place yet, the Service Chiefs would be screened by the Committee of the Whole of the Senate.
