The itinerary was announced in a statement issued on Thursday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

According to the statement, the Akwa Ibom leg of the visit will feature the commissioning of projects covering aviation infrastructure, road construction, administrative facilities, security coordination and tourism.

In preparation for the President’s visit, Governor Eno has declared Friday a work-free day across the state to enable residents to give Tinubu a reception and participate in the scheduled activities.

Tinubu To Inaugurate Aviation, Road Projects

Among the projects scheduled for commissioning are the new International Terminal Building, the International Airport Hospital and the Ibom Aviation Village, all located within the Victor Attah International Airport.

The President will also inaugurate the Airport-Okopedi Road, which traverses Nsit Atai and Okobo Local Government Areas, as well as Ring Road 3, linking Idoro Road to Ikot Ekpene Road through Uyo and Ibiono Ibom.

Other projects listed for commissioning are the AKWA-GIS Office Complex, the Command and Control Centre and the ARISE Palm Resort.

The projects are part of the infrastructure development initiatives of the Eno administration, which has pursued investments in transportation, aviation, tourism and other sectors under its ARISE Agenda.

Tinubu’s visit also comes against the backdrop of Governor Eno’s defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC in June 2025, a development that altered the political alignment in Akwa Ibom.

The state had remained a traditional stronghold of the PDP since Nigeria’s return to democratic rule in 1999, making Eno’s decision to join the ruling party a significant political development in the South-South.

The governor announced his defection after consultations with political stakeholders, declaring his support for Tinubu’s administration and the need for closer cooperation with the Federal Government.

His entry into the APC strengthened the party’s political presence in the state and provided the ruling party with an incumbent governor to anchor its activities ahead of the 2027 elections.

The President’s visit will provide an opportunity for the APC leadership in Akwa Ibom to consolidate the party’s presence and bring its members, supporters and political stakeholders together.

After his engagements in Akwa Ibom, Tinubu will depart for Port Harcourt on Saturday to attend the APC rally in Rivers State.

Onanuga said the rally would be the President’s third since he flagged off his re-election campaign in Kaduna last month.

The Rivers engagement forms part of the APC’s wider mobilisation programme ahead of the 2027 general election, with the President expected to interact with party leaders, members and supporters.

The visit also comes amid heightened political activity in Rivers State, where the APC has continued to strengthen its presence under the Rainbow Coalition led by the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike

The Presidency said the visits to both states would provide opportunities for Tinubu to engage political stakeholders, party members and supporters. It added that the engagements would emphasise “unity, political stability, and a shared commitment to national progress.”

The President’s two-state visit is scheduled to begin on Friday, November 6, with his departure from Abuja, while the Rivers rally will hold on Saturday, November 7.
