September 29, (THEWILL) – President Bola Tinubu has ended his working vacation and departed Paris, France, for Nigeria, with his aircraft expected to touch down at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, later on Tuesday.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
According to the statement, Tinubu chose to return through Lagos, where he is expected to honour the memory of the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, a major figure in Nigeria’s democratic struggle.
The President will, on Independence Day, attend the premiere of a movie celebrating Abiola at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos.
Abiola is widely recognised as the winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, which was annulled by the military government of the time. His detention and subsequent death in 1998 further cemented his place in Nigeria’s pro-democracy history.
The Presidency said Tinubu would also hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates during his stay in Lagos in preparation for the 2027 elections.
The meetings are expected to focus on political engagements ahead of the next general elections before the President returns to Abuja.

During his stay in Paris, Tinubu attended a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron and held meetings with business leaders.
Among those he met was Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group, whose interests in the media and digital sectors include Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group.
The President also met with the Chairman of First Holdings, Femi Otedola, on Monday.
Tinubu also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ogun State Government and DP World for the development of a Gateway Deep Seaport in Ogun Waterside and the establishment of a Blue Marine Economic Zone.
The Presidency said DP World, one of the world’s leading ports and logistics operators, plans to invest $7 billion in the seaport and economic zone.
The project is expected to expand maritime infrastructure and create new economic opportunities in Ogun State, particularly around the state’s coastal assets.
THEWILL reports that Tinubu left Abuja on August 30 for his working vacation, spending his first week in London before travelling to Paris.
With his return to Nigeria, the President is expected to proceed with his Lagos engagements before returning to Abuja after the political meetings.
The Presidency did not give a specific date for his return to the Federal Capital Territory.
