Time Magazine’s annual compilation celebrates individuals who have left a significant mark on the world through their contributions in various fields.
The list categorises individuals into six distinguished groups: Titans, Innovators, Pioneers, Artistes, Leaders, and Icons.
Burna Boy earned the title of an ‘Icon’ with Angelique Kidjo, the legendary singer, penning a tribute for him on TIME’s Website.
She hailed him as “history in the making” and stated that he has a unique flow and sound that captivates audiences globally.
“Burna Boy’s deeply original flow and his signature groove have conquered the world with an impressive series of firsts: in 2023, he became the first African artist to sell out a U.S. stadium, and in 2024, he became the first Afrobeats artist to sing at the Grammys.
“He is history in the making. Now a whole generation of young people from the continent is looking up to him,” she wrote.
With a string of awards and accolades, the singer has solidified his status as one of the leading artistes out of Africa.
