Tight Security As Court Resumes Trial Of IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu

October 21, (THEWILL) – Security operatives have barricaded the Federal High Court Abuja, ahead of scheduled re-arraingment of the detained leader of South-East separatist group, the Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

From Transcorp Hilton through the Ministry of Justice and Abia House, security was beefed up with the presence of a combined security operatives of the Nigerian Police Force, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Nigerian Army, as early as 4am, blocked all roads leading to the high court premises which is adjacent the Federal Ministry of Justice Headquarters.

Many journalists who came for the event are being denied access to the courtroom.

The security operatives stationed at the entrance of the Ministry of Justice building told journalists that only accredited judiciary reporters would be allowed in.

Also, some lawyers have been denied access to the courtroom.

Kanu is expected to take a fresh plea before trial Justice Binta Nyako, on an amended seven-count charge bordering on incitement, treasonable felony and terrorism.

Many black Sports Utility Vehicles of the DSS arrived at the court at about 8am
