July 23, (THEWILL) – Brazilian full-back, Alex Telles, has officially departed from Manchester United to join Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Nassr on a contract that extends until 2025, according to announcements made by the two clubs on Sunday.
The 30-year-old, who was instrumental in Sevilla’s Europa League victory while on loan last season, expressed his anticipation for the new chapter in his career. Telles will also reunite with his former United teammate Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr, adding further excitement to the transfer.
Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed by either club. However, media reports monitored by THEWILL have suggested that United are set to receive approximately £6 million as part of the transfer. The departure of Telles has garnered a farewell message from his former club, as United tweeted: “A new adventure beckons for @AT13Oficial. Thank you for everything and good luck, Alex.”
The Saudi Pro League has been an attractive destination for players ever since Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Al-Nassr in December 2022 in a high-profile transfer. However, the league has faced recent complications, as Al-Nassr was banned by FIFA from registering new players due to unresolved debts.
As THEWILL reported, these debts were linked to the transfer of Nigerian attacker, Ahmed Musa, who joined Al-Nassr from English side Leicester City in 2018. Despite the ban, Telles’ move to Al-Nassr was successfully completed.
