BEVERLY HILLS, April 1, (THEWILL) – Nigerian singer, Kessy Doris Mbonu, popularly known as KessyDriz, has expressed her happiness after she was gifted N10 million by the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike.
KessyDriz was among the artistes who participated at a recent homecoming event held by the Governor to celebrate the Grammy win of Burna Boy.
On Wednesday, Wike fulfilled his promise to give all artistes that graced the event the sum of N10 million each irrespective of public uproar.
Shortly after receiving the money, the singer took to her Instagram page to share a video of herself shedding tears of joy.
In a series of emotional posts, KessyDriz stated that she had struggled to succeed as a singer over the years and the Governor’s gift has ushered in a new dawn for her.
She thanked Governor Wike for the gesture and Burna Boy for his feat.
“Talk and do Governor. All my years of tears, struggles, and depressions are over. 10,000,000 richer. What God cannot do does not exist. Big shout out to @burnaboygram, your win is indeed a win for all of us. Tears of joy. God has remembered me.”
She stated that she had recently abandoned her music career in search of other opportunities due to “hunger.”
“I left music to find a job so that hunger will not kill me. I haven’t even worked for one month when God said, ‘My daughter this is not my plan for you; I gave you this talent for a reason.’ Now see me today…” she added.
