On Friday, the supporters of the Kwankwasiyya movement staged a protest in Kano over the alleged omission of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) governorship candidate, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, from the list released by the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC).

Officially, the APC began preparations to mobilise nationwide support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, with the party fixing October 24 for its presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna. ADC officially inaugurated its campaign council, while the presidential candidate of the NDC has since taken the lead with a solo campaign effort.

The development has left the electoral fate of ADC candidate, Ambassador Nkoyo Toyo, and her NDC counterpart, John Upan Odey Jr., uncertain, with the latter blaming what he called a “bureaucratic error” and announcing moves to engage INEC for a resolution.

Peter Obi said the OK Movement, Obidient Movement, and Kwankwasiyya must obtain his approval and that of his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, before taking any action for or on behalf of the party ahead of the 2027 general election.

The Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal has restored the registration of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), clearing a major legal hurdle confronting the political platform of former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, and former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The structure, announced in a statement issued on Thursday by the movement’s National Secretary, Saadatu Sani, comprises zonal and state coordinators as well as directors overseeing critical areas of the campaign.

The vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has asked former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar to withdraw from the 2027 presidential race and concentrate on his traditional responsibilities as the Wazirin Adamawa.
