The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has tightened surveillance across Nigerian airports following the confirmation of an Ebola Virus Disease case in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, announced the breakthrough on Tuesday, saying the settlement brings an end to years of litigation and competing financial claims involving MMA2, the General Aviation Terminal (GAT), concession fees and the abandoned airport hotel and conference centre projects.

The closure is tentatively scheduled to begin on October 20, 2026, subject to final confirmation, as the authority moves to address deteriorating sections of the runway and improve the airport's operational capacity ahead of the Christmas travel season.

FAAN says Uber’s Nigeria exit was a broader corporate decision and not the result of its airport restrictions, which followed complaints about safety, touting and passenger accountability.

FAAN, in a statement issued on Thursday to alert the public, disowned a purported “Letter of Provisional Offer of Employment” being circulated by unauthorised individuals who claim to represent the Authority.

The development follows what FAAN described as “constructive engagements” with Bolt to establish an agreeable and sustainable operational framework for e-hailing services within the airport environment.
