What began in 2019 as a bold state-owned airline experiment has grown into a 10-aircraft carrier, approaching five million passengers, connecting Uyo to major Nigerian cities and Ghana, while simultaneously driving a wider aviation ecosystem that is reshaping the economic geography of the state.

The Governor said the facility, when completed, would be positioned as a world-class medical centre capable of providing advanced healthcare services not only to Akwa Ibom residents but also to patients from other parts of Nigeria and the African region.

The suspects, identified as Uwakmfon Sunday, Edidiong Jackson and Sunday Tom, were arrested on August 31, 2026, following a distress call received by the Command at about 5:52 p.m. concerning the incident.

Eno stated this yesterday in Uyo while receiving the fifth aircraft acquired by his administration for the state-owned airline, an Airbus A220-300, as part of activities marking Akwa Ibom’s 39th anniversary.

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a 29-year-old man, Otuekong Enoidem, suspected to be involved in the kidnapping and murder of Koffi, following his alleged attempt to collect ₦3 million ransom from the victim’s family.

Eno made the declaration at the Permanent Site of the University of Uyo, Nwaniba, during a public lecture delivered by the Ambassador of the Republic of South Korea to Nigeria, Ambassador Jeong Yo-an, on AI, smart agriculture and the development of blue economy resources.

The warning came as the Command conducted a major show of force and confidence-building operation across Uyo, the state capital, on Monday as part of measures to strengthen security and deter political violence ahead of the elections.

The projects, which cut across road infrastructure, healthcare, education and tourism, are scheduled for commissioning between September 1 and 30, 2026.

The Commissioner made the disclosure during the August edition of the Akwa Ibom State Government’s monthly Ministerial Briefing in Uyo, where he outlined the administration’s interventions and achievements in the health sector.

Azare gave the charge yesterday, at a symposium on Effective Crime and Court Reporting, organised by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akwa Ibom State Council, in collaboration with the Akwa Ibom State Judiciary, at the Patience (Kemi) Umo Eno Auditorium, NUJ Press Centre, Uyo.
