April 27, (THEWILL) – Benue State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), has praised the cordial working relationship between Governor Hyacinth Alia and his Deputy, Dr Sam Ode, who doubles as the Chairman of Lobi Stars Football Club of Makurdi and urged it’s sustenance.
Arising from it monthly Congress meeting in Makurdi, the Association, expressed worry over the bad state of the Aper township Stadium, a situation which has caused Lobi Stars Football club to play their home matches for two seasons away from Makurdi State capital, thereby, denying the state of revenue and fans from watching the ‘Yes Fada boys’ play on their pitch at the Aper Aku Stadium.
In a Communique signed by the Chairman, John Shiaondo and Secretary, Tamenor Kwaghzer, members also urged the Governor to make timely releases of funds to the club for seamless performance, progress and development.
The Communique noted that stepping up of sponsorship for Lobi Stars will enable the Club to maintain the good performance it has displayed in the current NPFL season.
The association commended the Vice Chairman and the Chief Executive Officer, Dominic Iorfa, management, technical crew and players of the club for the scintillating conduct/performance that has put Lobi on front burner in the ongoing NPFL season.
On the unity and progress of SWAN, members resolved to work as one family for development of sports in the state, and urged members to step up coverage of other sports other than concentrate only on football.
SWAN commended Governor Hyacinth Alia for the prompt and consistent payment of salaries to civil servants, and also applauded him for the decision in commencing payment of the salary arrears to Benue workers.
It noted with satisfaction, the administration’s execution of massive infrastructural projects in the state in less than one year in office and urged for sustenance of the tempo of good governance.
