SAN FRANCISCO, July 11, (THEWILL) – A terrorist attack by a tricycle operator right outside the Borno Garage in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, Saturday morning, failed but the tricycle operator and three other passersby were consumed in the ensuing explosion which also injured three persons.
A local witness to the incident, Abraham Mshelia, told THEWILL that the explosion occurred early Saturday as the tricycle operator who was waiting for the opportunity to strike outside the park missed its target.
But in a bid to catch up with the targeted vehicle, the explosives on him went up, killing him instantly along with three others by the roadside.
“I was at the motor park to board a vehicle when the explosion occurred. The park is near the SSS office and a tricycle was targeting a bus that just left the motor park but triggered off the explosion before the tricycle could get to bus. Four people, including the bomber, were killed,” Mshelia said.
His account of the incident was corroborated by another resident, Ibrahim Audu, who said he escaped death by the whisker.
