February 18, (THEWILL) – Manchester City failed to capitalise on their chances in front of goal, as Nottingham Forest secured a well-deserved point in a fiercely contested English Premier League encounter on Saturday.
Bernardo Silva gave Pep Guardiola’s side the lead with a thunderous strike from distance. However, City could not add to their tally, and substitute, Chris Wood, came off the bench to score the equaliser for Forest in the second half.
Despite City’s relentless attack, Forest held their own in the first half, limiting their opponents to half-chances. City saw several shots from Jack Grealish, Ilkay Gundogan, and Kevin De Bruyne blocked, while Brennan Johnson provided a constant threat on the counter-attack. Silva eventually broke the deadlock with a sweetly struck shot. However, City could not maintain their lead.
Forest made positive substitutions, and their persistence paid off when Morgan Gibbs-White’s low cross was converted by Wood at the back post. Guardiola made late changes to try and force a result, but Forest held on for a hard-earned draw.
City now sit two points off EPL leaders Arsenal, while Forest moved up to 13th, continuing their impressive recent form. City will now turn their attention to their UEFA Champions League last-16 tie against RB Leipzig before facing Bournemouth next Saturday. Meanwhile, Forest travel to West Ham on the same day.
