BEVERLY HILLS, May 05, (THEWILL) – The two chambers of the National Assembly, on Tuesday, held a joint session on the state of the nation.
Senators were seen trooping to the chambers of the House of Representatives for the emergency session where they would discuss on recent issues affecting leaders of the two houses.
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, had earlier announced that members of the House of Representatives and Senate will be having the joint executive session.
Although details of the joint emergency meeting are yet to be revealed, it comes during the period when there are reported frictions between the executives and legislative arm.
This includes the failure of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, to on three different occasions, appear before the Senate after he was summoned to explain the spate of killings across the country.
Also, the allegations levelled against Senate President Bukola Saraki by the police over the Offa multiple bank robberies and the Department of State Security’s withdrawal of half of Speaker Yakubu Dogara’s security detail.
