Stalemate In Stadio Via del Mare As Leece Hold Roma To Barren Draw

April 2, (THEWILL)- Roma were held to a goalless draw by Lecce in an entertaining Serie A clash, at the Stadio Via del Mare on Monday night. Despite creating numerous chances, the hosts were unable to find a way past Mile Svilar in the Roma goal.

The game started brightly for Leece, with Marin Pongračić, Nikola Krstović and Roberto Piccoli all going close in the early stages. Daniele De Rossi’s Roma side looked shaky at the back as wave after wave of Leece attacks came their way before half-time. Piccoli was a constant thorn in their side but could not convert any of his opportunities.

After the break, Roma had a penalty appeal waved away before Pontus Almqvist saw his effort deflected wide following a blistering counter-attack. Leece’s Ylber Ramadani also went close as the game remained delicately poised. Roma did have a great chance to snatch all three points but Houssem Aouar was denied by Wladimiro Falcone when clean through.

In the end, neither side could find a breakthrough as the match ended goalless. The result leaves new Leece head coach Luca Gotti unbeaten in his first two games in charge with a win and a draw. For Roma and Daniele De Rossi, it ends their run of scoring in 11 consecutive Serie A matches.
