Spurs’ Kane Agrees To Join Bayern Munich On Four-Year Deal

August 11, (THEWILL) – Harry Kane has agreed to join German champions, Bayern Munich, on a four-year contract, ending his storied career with Tottenham Hotspur.

The 30-year-old England striker is now awaiting permission from Spurs to travel for a medical and to sign off on the transfer, which is reportedly worth over €100 million. Kane had hoped to resolve his future prior to Tottenham’s Premier League opener against Brentford on Sunday. He enjoyed working under new manager, Ange Postecoglou and had considered staying with his boyhood club.

However, with just one year left on his current contract, Kane ultimately opted to depart rather than leave on a free transfer next summer. Bayern had seen three previous bids for Kane rejected before a breakthrough was reached on Wednesday. Kane participated fully in Spurs’ preseason tour and scored four goals in his apparent farewell match, a 5-1 rout of Shakhtar Donetsk last Sunday.

In his 12 seasons at north London, Kane became the club’s all-time leading scorer with 280 goals in 435 matches across all competitions. His prolific finishing and playmaking abilities will greatly benefit Bayern’s possession-based attack. At the same time, his versatility as both a creative forward and a traditional target man will give the German side multiple tactical options.

Kane leaves Tottenham having secured his place among the Lilywhites’ greatest players. His departure marks the end of an era, but also a new chapter for one of the English Premier League’s most lethal strikers.
