January 31, (THEWILL) – Tottenham Hotspur has loaned out young right-back, Djed Spence, to Rennes for the rest of the 2022/2023 season.
Spence was signed by the North London club in the summer of 2022 from Middlesbrough but only played a limited role in the team. This resulted in him being granted permission to leave on loan before the end of the transfer window.
Spence chose to join French side Rennes over several interested English Premier League teams. Rennes also has Tottenham centre-back, Joe Rodon, on loan. This loan does not include a purchase clause, meaning Spence will return to Tottenham in the summer.
On deadline day, Tottenham will announce the signing of Pedro Porro while fellow right-back, Matt Doherty, will join Atletico Madrid on loan, as THEWILL reported. The transfers signal a busy end to the transfer window for the club as they look to strengthen their squad for the remainder of the season.
