SAN FRANCISCO, August 11, (THEWILL) – Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, on Thursday had a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The meeting which lasted about an hour was held inside the President’s office at the State House. Soyinka was accompanied by a public relations expert, Dr. Yomi Ogunbiyi.
Smarting from the meeting, Soyinka was besieged by a horde of State House correspondents who laid ambush for him in front of the Press Gallery. In an attempt to break through a barricade set up by the journalists, he said, “I didn’t come to see you people.”
When he noticed that the reporters would not relent, the accomplished playwright said, “I came to discuss national and international matters, general matters. That’s all!”
Upon further probe about details of the discussion, he said he would not divulge such, disclosing that: “I will be holding a press conference in about a week. You can ask me any question then, but now, please I will just like to get away.”
