Southwest Governors Elect Sanwo-Olu As Chairman

June 10, (THEWILL) – The Southwest Governors’ Forum has elected Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, as its chairman.

THEWILL reports that the six governors of the Southwest zone including Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, and Lagos, met at a closed-door meeting on Monday, in Lagos, where Sanwo-Olu was elected.

He took over as forum chairman six months after the death of the former governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, who passed away on December 27, 2023.

The forum also unanimously adopted the “Iṣẹ̀ wà fùń Ilẹ wá” song as the Southwest (Yoruba) anthem going forward.

As part of his first duties, the forum chairman directed the agriculture commissioners to set up a working template for combating food insecurity issues.
