November 19, (THEWILL) – Beleaguered Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has held “crisis talks” with six key players ahead of the Premier League match against Watford this weekend.

United has won only one of their last six league games, including humiliating home losses to Liverpool and Manchester City.

Solskjaer is under immense pressure to win against a Watford side that is just two points above the relegation zone and has the Premier League’s fourth-worst defensive record.

In recent weeks, it has been reported that important players have been upset with how their season has gone so far. Bruno Fernandes is alleged to be among those concerned about Solskjaer and his staff’s lack of defined game preparations earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo is believed to be “shocked” by how low standards have dropped, despite not expecting to see the same team he left in 2009.

According to some sources, Solskjaer spoke with Fernandes, Ronaldo, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Victor Lindelof, and Nemanja Matic at the club’s Carrington Training Base on Thursday morning at 10 a.m.

The main topic of conversation was how they planned to turn things around, as well as a tactical plan in light of their recent switch to a back three system.

With the majority of United’s team being called up by their various countries for World Cup qualifiers, Solskjaer took advantage of the first few days of this month’s international break to spend time with his family in Norway.

Following Watford, United travels to Villarreal in the Champions League, where a loss would jeopardise their chances of progressing to the knockout stages. Then, there are two Premier League games in a row against Chelsea and Arsenal.
