March 04, (THEWILL) – Singer, Joshua Iniyezo, aka Solidstar, is back in the spotlight after taking time off to nurse his mental health. He is courageously delving into his harrowing battles with his addiction to hard drugs.
In August 2023, a trending video of Solidstar sparked widespread reactions online after he was seen roaming the streets barefooted and looking raggedy. He was admitted at a rehabilitation centre following his addiction to drugs.
His brother, Joseph, revealed that he had been sick for a while and solicited financial help.
“We thought we could be able to solve the issue internally, but we need your help now”, the family said.
“Hello everyone, my name is Joseph Iniyezo. I am Solidstar’s brother. I want to use this medium to let his fans, his friends and colleagues in the industry know that Solidstar is really sick.
“I know you may be wondering why he has not been active, it is because he has been sick and battling a lot mentally. I know he must have offended some of his friends and colleagues, but it is not his fault.
“We thought we would be able to solve the issue internally and we tried our best, but we need your help now. His friends, his colleagues please we need your help, if there is any time in the world he needs your help, it is now.”
Before then, in 2019 precisely, he nearly lost his life from a drug overdose.
“There is a thin line between life and death. The incident showed how fragile I am by the overdose use of drugs that led to me bleeding in an attempt of a couple of thought processes.
“Sincere apologies to whomever I might have hurt, but, hey, love is the sweetest and slowest form of suicide”, he added.
Now he has made a dramatic return following his recovery and is boldly sharing his thoughts on his Instagram page.
He also opened up about the tumultuous journey of his music career, acknowledging the thrilling highs and daunting lows that have characterised his path in the industry.
“It’s been a journey—one filled with highs and lows, triumphs and tribulations. Today, I release ‘SONTO,’ a piece of my heart poured into every beat and lyric.
“I want to take this moment to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you who stood by me during my darkest hour. Your unwavering support, whether through a message, a call, or a silent prayer, meant more to me than words can convey.
“To my fans, friends, and family: thank you for never giving up on me, even when I struggled to hold onto myself. Your love has been my guiding light, leading me out of the shadows and into the warmth of healing.
“I also want to extend a heartfelt apology to anyone I may have unintentionally hurt or offended along the way. I am far from perfect, but I am committed to growth, empathy, and understanding. Please forgive me, in your own time and in your own way.
“Moving forward, I pledge to use my platform not only to create music but also to advocate for mental health awareness and to spread positivity in every note and every word. Together, let’s embrace our imperfections, support one another, and journey towards a brighter tomorrow.”
