March 08, (THEWILL) – As part of the effort to create employment and reduce youths’ restiveness in the state, the All Progressive Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in Sokoto State, Hon. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, has flagged off the training of 5,000 youths and women on different skills acquisition in the state.

Flagging off the training exercise, the APC candidate said the gesture is part of his contributions towards checking redundancy among youths in the state.

According to him, the training programme, which is for both the indigene and non-indigenes, will go a long way in making its participants gainfully employed.

“This training programme is free, and we will give the trainees some stipends after they must have graduated.

“Youths empowerment is part of my 9-point agenda if elected, so I’m personally sponsoring this training of 5000 youths and women considering the importance of making our women and youths gainfully employed, “Aliyu said.

Aliyu charged beneficiaries of the training programme to pay attention to what they would be taught during the training exercise.

He assured the people of the State of a massive skills acquisition programme if elected as governor of the state.

“Youth Empowerment programme is one area I know how to do best so we’ll ensure that our youths get something done.

“I did it while I was the commissioner for social welfare in the state, and we’ll improve on what we did then if elected,” he revealed.

Participants under the just introduced skills acquisition programme were expected to be trained in snacks baking among other trades.
