So-Safe Arrest Man For Attempting To Rape, Kill Teenager In Ogun

August 6, (THEWILL) – Operatives of the Social Orientation and Safety Corps, So-Safe, in Ogun State, have arrested one Idowu Adebayo, for an attempt to rape and murder a 17-year-old girl.

The suspect was arrested following reports lodged at the Lisa/Oluke Divisional Headquarters of the corps by some residents of Ayegbe village in Ifo.

The Spokesperson of the So-Safe Corps, Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf, confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta on Friday.

Yusuf said that the girl, Blessing John, was sent on an errand by her mother to get her vegetables at Joju market, Sango Ota.

He explained that the victim saw Adebayo, who was riding an Okada and stopped him to take her to Joju market, but unfortunately, he took her to another destination.

The So-Safe PRO said that the suspect took the girl from Abule Iroko to a bush in Ayegbe village and tried to rape her before killing her, but luck came her way as she was rescued by some farmers, who heard her cry for help, rushed to the scene, and saved her.

Yusuf noted that the farmers afterward contacted the So-Safe Corp,s whose operation team went to the scene and arrested the perpetrator

Meanwhile, the Commander of the Corps, Dr Soji Ganzallo, has directed that the crime scene be revisited to ascend it was not a place of hibernation for miscreants

He also instructed the Zonal Commander of the Corps to ensure that no bush or forest was left uncombed in that axis

The suspect and the team have been transferred to the Ifo Divisional Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and prosecution.
