August 24, (THEWILL) – Fulham recorded a 2-1 victory against newly-promoted Leicester City in Saturday’s English Premier League match at Craven Cottage. Goals from Emile Smith Rowe and Alex Iwobi proved decisive for the home team.
The Cottagers took the lead in the 18th minute when Adama Traore provided a well-timed pass to Smith Rowe. The midfielder, making his home debut, controlled and finished with a precise left-footed shot to put Fulham ahead.
Leicester City equalised 20 minutes later through defender Wout Faes. The centre-back headed home from a corner delivered by Facundo Buonanotte, bringing the scores level before half-time.
The winning goal came in the 70th minute, courtesy of Iwobi. The forward expertly controlled a long pass from left-back Antonee Robinson before finding the net with a left-footed strike, sealing the three points for Fulham.
This result strengthens Fulham’s position in the EPL table, while Leicester will need to regroup as they continue their campaign following promotion from the Championship last season.
