November 21, (THEWILL) – Nigerian rapper, singer and songwriter, Crown Uzama, popularly known as Shallipopi, shared insights on how his colleague, Omoniyi Temidayo Raphael, better known as Zlatan Ibile, played a pivotal role in his fast-growing music career.
In a recent interview, Shallipopi delved into the transformative influence Zlatan Ibile had on his life. He detailed how Zlatan facilitated a connection with his former label boss, the CEO of Dvpper Music, Damillola Akinwunmi, professionally known as Dapper Damm.
Shallipopi reminisced about reaching out to various artists for a remix of his hit track, ‘Ellon Musk.’ To his delight, Zlatan not only responded but also arranged a studio meetup, standing out as the sole artist to do so.
During the interview, Shallipopi also shared his experience securing accommodation when he first moved from Benin City to Lagos to pursue his music career. Despite being a fan of his music, several friends declined to host him. He eventually found accommodation by deceiving a group of boys, assuring them he would stay for only four days.
Reflecting on the journey in the latest episode of the Zero Conditions podcast, Shallipopi revealed how his song ‘Elon Musk’ opened doors, leading to his first flight for a show in Port Harcourt, earning him N50,000 and emphasising the potential for significant earnings in the music industry, even for up-and-coming artists with just one hit song.
About a month ago Shallipopi took to his Instagram page and posted a picture of himself and Zlatan and his story where he wrote, “Big shoutout to Zlatan Ibile. Bro literally gave me my career life. He didn’t ask for anything in return.”
