September 30, (THEWILL) – Singer Balogun Afolabi Oluwaloseyi, popularly known as Seyi Vibez, has officially unfollowed his record label, Dapper Music, on Instagram, signalling a shift in his career.
The 24-year-old artiste updated bio on his social media page reads, ‘Independent artist.’ Despite the change, a link to the label remains on his X profile.
There are reports that his departure from the label followed public backlash from Nigerians in Toronto, where Seyi Vibez reportedly cancelled a show last-minute. Both Seyi Vibez and Dapper Music have achieved remarkable success since 2022.
The singer won the 2023 Headies Award for Best Street Hop and ended the year as one of Nigeria’s most-streamed artists. Dapper Music, under CEO Damilola Akinwunmi, has emerged as a major force in Nigerian street music, with Akinwunmi being named TurnTable Chart’s Executive of the Year for 2023. Earlier this year, he also launched his label, Vibez INC, unveiling a roster of artists.
