“Serious Considerations” Being Given To Replacing Solskjaer At Manchester United

October 25, (THEWILL) – Following Manchester United’s humiliating home defeat to Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday, “serious considerations” are being given to sacking manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer before the team’s next game.

On Saturday, United will travel to Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League. But, with more pressure on Solskjaer than at any other point in his nearly three-year tenure, the possibility of him being fired before that game has arisen.

Since being named as Jose Mourinho’s successor, initially as an interim choice, in December 2018, Solskjaer has overseen steady progress. That trend continued this season, with the additions of Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane, and Cristiano Ronaldo to an already strong squad.

The Norwegian was even given a new contract to continue the work he started, as he has overseen higher EPL table finishes year after year.

However, a poor start to the season, which has seen United lose three of their last four Premier League games, compounded by the dreadful performance against Liverpool, has put immense pressure on him and raised questions about his future.

According to some reports THEWILL is following from Manchester, Solskjaer may have coached his final game as United manager because club officials are debating whether or not to fire him in the coming days. With the Spurs game only five days away, they are said to be giving it some “serious consideration.”

After the game, Solskjaer, who is regarded as a United legend for his achievements as a player, accepted full responsibility for the team’s performance and result against Liverpool as THEWILL reported.

Refusing to lay the blame on the coaching crew, he said: “It is mine [responsibility], that is it. The coaching staff are very, very good, brilliant. I choose the way we approach the game, we were not clinical enough and gave too much space and when you give good players space they score.

“We are at home, playing against Liverpool, we have gone here over the last two and half years and had a similar approach to high press but today they scored on their chances. I think as Manchester United we should always try to stamp our authority on the game.

“You can look at last season when we lost to Spurs 6-1, this is worse, miles worse. This is miles worse for me as a Manchester lad. I’ve just got to say we have to get over this as quickly as we can.”
