May 25, (THEWILL)- Juventus claimed third place in Serie A and ended their winless run against Monza with a 2-0 victory at the Allianz Stadium on Saturday. The Bianconeri had gone six league games without a win before this clash against the Biancorossi.
The hosts took the lead midway through the first half when Federico Chiesa cut in from the left and rifled an unstoppable shot into the far corner. Alex Sandro then doubled Juve’s advantage two minutes later, heading home a corner kick at the near post.
Monza struggled to create chances, as Juventus dominated proceedings. Chiesa nearly added a third when he struck the crossbar from long range early in the second period. Raffaele Palladino’s side could not find a way back, slumping to their ninth consecutive match without a victory.
The win means Juventus finish third in Serie A, while Monza’s winless streak stretches to nine games – their longest barren run in the top flight.
