February 01, (THEWILL) – Senegal secured a place in the final of the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2022 with a 1-0 victory over Madagascar on Tuesday night.

The game was decided early on as Papa Diallo scored a looping header from a Mamadou Sane pass in the fifth minute. Senegal dominated the game, with Diallo and Cheikh Ibra Diouf both having opportunities to extend the lead but being denied by the impressive performance of Madagascar goalkeeper, Zakanirina Rakotohasimbola, commonly known as Nina.

Despite Senegal’s control of the game, Madagascar put up a strong defensive effort in the second half, with Soloniaina Rajo Nirina Razafindrabearimihanta, commonly known as Berajo, clearing a dangerous ball off the line. Senegal continued to pressure the Madagascar defence, with Diallo missing a chance to beat Nina in the 83rd minute.

With both teams having put in impressive performances throughout the tournament, it promises to be a thrilling match-up between two highly competitive sides.
