November 17, (THEWILL) – Due to a leg injury, Senegal’s Sadio Mane will not participate in the 2022 World Cup set to kick off on Sunday, in Qatar.
An injury to his right fibula means that the Bayern Munich attacker was a questionable inclusion in the early stages of the competition.
On Thursday, Senegalese officials officially confirmed that he will not be in the squad in Qatar, contrary to the country’s earlier hopes that he, at the very least, would be fit for the later stages of the competition when he was named in the national squad.
The African nation, one of five representing the continent, opens its World Cup campaign on Monday against the Netherlands, and then they will clash with hosts Qatar on November 25 and Ecuador on November 29.
