BEVERLY HILLS, March 11, (THEWILL) – The Senate Wednesday confirmed Ambassador Musiliu Obanikoro as Minister of the federal republic despite protests from senators of the main opposition party, All Progressives Congress (APC), who staged a walkout in protest.
APC senators have vehemently opposed Obanikoro’s nomination as minister over his role in a leaked recording (Ekitigate scandal) allegedly plotting how to rig the last Ekiti State governorship elections.
However, at Wednesday’s plenary Obanikoro, a representative of Lagos State, who had previously served in this administration served as Minister of State for Defence, was allowed the privilege to “bow and go”.
