January 04, (THEWILL) – Old Boys Association of St Saviours College, Umuaka, in Njaba Local Government of Imo State, held its 2023 annual convention in a grand style.
The programme, which took place at the Rockview Hotels, Owerri, Tuesday, January 3, 2023, had in attendance, graduates from the college since it was founded in 1958.
In his keynote address at the occasion, National President of the association, Mr. Nick Opera, noted that the executives, in collection with the outstanding support of some of their members, accomplished by way of reconstruction, renovations and innovations.
“Our modest achievements so far would not have been possible without the cooperation of each of every one of us, especially you. Our special appreciation goes to those that sponsored the 2019 national convention that produced this outgoing Executive committee.”
He continued, “I want to use this opportunity to commend Chief Barr. Christian Nwachukwu (Kiriwowo- Omeiheukwu), Chief Engr Emmanuel Okey Amuzie (Gburugburu), Chief Dr. Casmir Ojiaka, RT. Hon. Nze Cosmas Maduba, the Commissioner for Agriculture and others.”
The association also honoured some of its members for having contributed immeasurably to the development of the group.
In his reaction, shortly after receiving the award, one of the old boys, who is said to be a pillar of the association, Chief Barrister Christian Nwachukwu, a United States legal luminary, expressed joy for the award given to him by the old boys.
Also, the Imo State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Mr. Cosmas Maduba and an Umuaka-born United States-based Engineer, Okey Amuzie, described the honour as one they would not take for granted.
