September 4, (THEWILL) – Manchester United winger, Jadon Sancho, is set for showdown talks with club bosses following his public fall out with manager, Erik ten Hag.
The England international was omitted from the matchday squad for Sunday’s 3-1 defeat at Arsenal, with Ten Hag revealing after the game that Sancho’s training levels had not met the required standard. Sancho then took to social media on Sunday evening to suggest he had been made a “scapegoat”, marking an escalation in tensions between player and coach.
Talks are now being lined up to discuss how the 23-year-old will be disciplined for airing his grievances so publicly. THEWILL recalls that Sancho joined United in 2021 and is now in his third season at the club.
United have already received enquiries for the winger, notably from Turkish clubs who can still sign players until 15 September. An exit is seen as highly unlikely, however, given Sancho’s standing as one of United’s top earners.
Ten Hag is unhappy with how the situation has played out and hopes clear-the-air talks can resolve matters in the short-term. United believe the issues are fixable and do not want to subsidise Sancho departing.
