BEVERLY HILLS, October 01, (THEWILL) – Arsenal youngster, Bukayo Saka, has turned down the opportunity to play for three-time African champions and would rather star for England’s Three Lions following his invitation for the upcoming UEFA Nations League qualifiers against Belgium and Denmark.
Gary Southgate gave Saka, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Harvey Barnes their first senior England call-ups for the team’s UEFA Nations League matches.
The games will be played on October 11 and 14.
Saka took to his social media account to announce this development.“Honoured and grateful to get my first @england call-up! #Blessings,” Saka wrote.
THEWILL reports that Saka, whose parents are both native Nigerians though he was born in Ealing, England, had played for England’s U16, U17, U18, U19 and U21 levels. Nigeria had earlier lobbied him to consider playing for the Super Eagles.
