September 28, (THEWILL) – Juventus climbed to the top of Serie A with a 3-0 win against Genoa on Saturday. The victory marked their first league goals since late August, ending a drought that had lasted several matches.
The first half was uneventful, with both teams struggling to create chances. Dusan Vlahovic came closest for Juventus, sending a free-kick just over the bar shortly after the 30-minute mark.
The match sparked to life three minutes into the second half when Genoa’s Koni De Winter committed a handball in the penalty area. Vlahovic converted the resulting spot-kick to give Juventus the lead. The Serbian striker doubled his tally seven minutes later, finishing off a well-worked move with a left-footed shot into the bottom right corner.
Genoa managed only two shots on target in response, and Francisco Conceicao’s late goal sealed a comfortable win for the visitors. The result leaves Genoa in 16th place, dangerously close to the relegation zone.
The win puts Juventus at the top of Serie A, at least temporarily. Manager Thiago Motta will be pleased with his team’s performance, particularly in the second half, as they look to maintain their position at the summit of Italian football.
