…Says He’s Been Vindicated By Jonathan’s Defeat
BEVERLY HILLS, June 06, (THEWILL) – Former governor of Adamawa State , Admiral Murtala Nyako (rtd), was treated to a rousing welcome, Saturday morning , in Yola, the state capital, by thousands of his supporters who came to the Yola International Airport to welcome him back to the state after a year in self-exile following his impeachment.
Addressing his teeming supporters, who followed him in a convoy from the airport to the scene of the Thursday suicide bombing as well as the Specialists Hospital and Federal Medical Centre, Yola, Nyako, who had defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declared that the defeat of the PDP and that of former President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 general elections had vindicated him.
The politician, who was interrogated by officials of the EFCC, Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, on his return from self-exile, accused former President Jonathan of turning deaf ears to advice, alleging that the former President actually masterminded his impeachment by the State House of Assembly over allegations of corruption and misappropriation of the state funds.
He also accused the former president of turning deaf ears to the candid advice he gave when he accused him of genocide against the Northern region, saying he only advised the former president of very vital issues that would have helped his administration .
“We are all witnesses to where taking offense has landed him and the PDP,” Nyako added.
Calling on the people of the state to support President Muhammadu Buhari, he assured that Buhari would deliver on his election promises.
His words: “I want to thank the people of Adamawa for their contribution in voting PDP out. We now need to support our big brother Buhari who is reliable and can deliver.”
The former governor also denied that he embezzled the state fund, saying he has no money hidden anywhere as he challenged anybody who knows where he is hiding the alleged embezzled money to come out and reveal it .
He however condemned the bombing in Yola on Thursday, describing the action as inhuman and barbaric .
While consoling the relatives of the victims , Nyako prayed that God would grant them comfort and fortitude to bear the loss of their loved ones.
