October 21, (THEWILL) – Al Nassr emerged victorious with a 2-1 win over Damac FC in the Saudi Pro League on Saturday. The highlight of the game was a stunning goal by Cristiano Ronaldo, which proved to be the decisive moment for Al Nassr.
The first half saw Damac take the lead in stoppage time, as Georges-Kevin N’Koudou finished off a swift counter-attack to put the visitors ahead. Al Nassr had their fair share of chances but were unable to find the back of the net. The halftime score stood at 0-1 in favour of the visitors.
Al Nassr came out determined in the second half and quickly turned the game around. Anderson Talisca equalised with a well-taken free-kick in the 53rd minute, bringing the home team level. Just three minutes later, Ronaldo hit a blistering free-kick that found the top-right corner of the net, giving Al Nassr the lead.
Damac had several golden opportunities to find a leveller but wasted them. They squandered three clear-cut chances, which could have changed the outcome of the game throughout the match and they can only blame themselves for being unable to capitalise on their dominance in certain phases of the tie.
While Al Nassr celebrated the win, their performance raised questions about their title aspirations. The team showed resilience in coming from behind, but their defensive vulnerabilities were exposed by Damac’s attacking display. Al Nassr will need to improve their structure and solidity at the back.
